London Brick Lane

Sunday was cold but it was bright and many people dressed for the cold weather and enjoyed the sunshine. This area of London serves wonderful quality coffee.  Eight members of Saffron Walden Camera Club ventured out with their cameras, some more accomplished Street Photographers than others.  Food was high on the agenda and Brick Lane was certainly the place to eat curry!  Watch out for a BBC programme on Brick Lane, the propieter told us his restaurant featured in the feature film.

Lynne took us to the Nomadic garden, a place I would have not discovered on my own. A couple were playing the piano and a man was  sunning imself while he waited for his wife and daughter to bring some lunch.  He had travelled from Amsterdam.

The Columbia Road Flower market  was busy and street entertainment added to the colour of the street. Columbia Road began its life as a pathway along which sheep were driven to the slaughterhouses at Smithfield.  The pitch owners were friendly and it was interesting to meet Denis from Saffron Flowers who can be found on Saturday's in Saffron Walden market.  At the end of the day we walked back down Columbia Road and couldn't resit buying flowers especially as there were end of the day special offers!
